Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate of the NPP presidential candidate, has expressed strong confidence that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) can secure 85% of the presidential vote in the Ashanti Region in the upcoming 2024 elections.
His optimism was conveyed during the launch of the NPP campaign team in the region, where he highlighted the party’s track record of exceeding expectations in past elections.
Reflecting on the 2016 election, NAPO, as he is popularly known, recalled the doubts that many political analysts had about the NPP’s chances, particularly due to criticisms against then-presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo. Despite these challenges, the NPP achieved one of its most decisive victories, marking a historic moment in Ghana’s democratic journey since 1992.

Dr. Prempeh attributed this success to the party’s relentless efforts and the substantial development projects carried out in the Ashanti Region. He pointed out that numerous road projects, educational initiatives, and other infrastructural developments have significantly improved the region, reinforcing the party’s stronghold and appeal to voters.
According to NAPO, the NPP has laid a solid foundation for achieving the ambitious 85% vote target. With Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia leading the ticket as the presidential candidate, he believes the party is poised to secure overwhelming support in the Ashanti Region. He called on party supporters to rally behind the NPP and ensure that the region delivers the highest possible votes in recognition of the party’s efforts under President Akufo-Addo’s leadership.
Dr. Prempeh also announced that the NPP would be embarking on an aggressive door-to-door campaign across the nation. This approach is aimed at reaching every voter, emphasizing the party’s achievements and the dynamic, young candidates ready to lead the country forward. He stressed that the upcoming election has its unique dynamics, and the NPP’s campaign strategy would reflect these changes, ensuring that the party remains connected with the electorate.
Acknowledging that there may be some dissatisfaction among voters in the Ashanti Region, NAPO expressed confidence that the overall achievements of the NPP government would outweigh any grievances. He urged the people of the region to consider the progress made and to support the party in its quest to continue leading the nation.
In conclusion, Dr. Opoku Prempeh is convinced that with a mix of strategic campaigning and the solid track record of the Akufo-Addo administration, the NPP will not only meet but potentially exceed its 85% vote target in the Ashanti Region, solidifying its dominance in the upcoming elections.
